I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

The snails are destroying everything in my garden. Sometimes, there were up to 5 slugs on a small plant.
I have now requested 20 meters of corten steel, 15 cm (6 inches) high and 1.5 mm (0.06 inches) thick. The beds will be edged with it, and then we’ll see. If it helps, they all will get it. Contrary to what some say, they don’t avoid walking over bark mulch or wood chips.

The jasmine is blooming, as well as the climbing rose I planted this spring. I’ll upload some pictures this evening.

Despite a snail infestation, the plants are still blooming

Berry season

The berries are finally picking up: The strawberries are fantastic this year! I’ve already frozen a good 2 kilograms (4.4 pounds) for jam, and yesterday I made a strawberry cake. And it just keeps going. Next up will be the red currants, and the gooseberries are also about to ripen. Since the sour cherry tree is bearing some fruit again, the rum pot is calling. I love this time of year!

After starting my gardening very late and on a small scale this year, the first fresh salad is only now coming through. I’m always quite lazy and just sow a mixed loose-leaf lettuce. The bush beans are growing quickly, while the zucchinis are still a bit shy. Tomatoes and cucumbers in the greenhouse, on the other hand, have been growing well. I still have a few beds free, so we’ll see what else I’ll plant. I’ll also add a few strips of wildflower meadow—our bee-friendly plants are truly living up to their name by now!

The male hardy kiwi near the house has finally received its trellis and has taken off. Now we just need a matching female, unfortunately, last year’s died a few weeks after planting.

The next garden task will be leveling the pool base again. In recent years, we’ve always had an ugly blue above-ground pool, which broke last season. A replacement is already ready, which will bridge the time until the “real” pool in a few years. The pool heater will also be installed on the shed roof beforehand, although this will need to be slightly modified, raised, and extended... but first, I want to get the pool set up.

The advantage of existing gardens. Apart from some baby lettuce and a few herbs, there is nothing.

The Swiss chard got sunburned, the arugula stayed tiny and is flowering.

The paddling pool is also there.

No paddling pool. I’m going to the beach.
