I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

Finally finished the seating area in the garden over the weekend. After starting with 250kg (550 lbs) of marble gravel and quickly facing the reality of the effort, I carried another 900kg (1980 lbs) in bags. Now, only the right warmth is missing.

Isn't that more of a lying area?

Here’s a little preview of summer for me – my tomato seedlings are showing their first signs of success:

Two planter boxes with young seedlings on the windowsill; marker sticks with names next to each plant.

I always find it amazing how such tiny seeds and delicate seedlings can grow into huge plants within just one season.

By the way: stay away from CompoSana seed starting soil. I wanted to try a branded product, and the result: it’s infested with lacewing larvae! Now I have to order nematodes to get the infestation under control.

Yes, true… it’s kind of like a hammock.

I still have two bean bags and a fire bowl that are actually meant to go there, so it will be more of a seating area again 🙂 The hammock is just a placeholder for now but will be moved to another spot in the long run.

I thought they were good against aphids? Much worse are fungus gnats—I had them once after buying a plant from an organic herb mail order. I also got nematodes from the company Sautter and Stepper in the region and later ladybugs for aphids. But then the wind blew them away in all directions from my balcony, so that money was wasted 🙄

Yes, lacewings are actually beneficial insects, according to my wife. Fungus gnats are found in the soil.

We saw this pretty plant at our hotel complex on Kos. The flowers feel straw-like and dry. I have searched the internet but couldn’t find any information. Maybe someone here knows what it is? Best regards, Steffi33
