We did not plant cherry laurel along the hedge facing the street; we only used photinia. The Portuguese laurel was just an alternative that matches the color scheme of the photinia. I planted a few Portuguese laurels on the east side as a privacy screen in front of the neighbor’s gas tank; we’ll see how they perform there.

In gloomy weather, every bit of greenery and blossom is a welcome sight. The Christmas roses we received as a housewarming gift are slowly starting to grow, and the witch hazel is also in bloom.

Both are still quite small, but have only been in the ground for a few months. When all the early spring bulbs come up, it will almost be colorful 🙂

Judging by the condition of the soil around our 300 onions, it looked more like a vole feast than a spring flower meadow 🙂 I’ll wait and see.
We are actively planning our garden; it will be a natural garden with almost exclusively native plants, and I’m really excited to fully commit to it.
