I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

I visit less well-known areas in the Odenwald instead of going to Königsstuhl.

That’s the right approach. And I expect that kind of common sense from others, too. At the latest when you’re stuck in traffic, you should realize that the chosen destination is probably overcrowded and it’s better to go somewhere else. But this is where many fail. They sit in traffic jams for hours just to get to these popular spots. Then it’s so crowded that even outdoor distancing rules can’t be maintained. The accident risk is an additional problem.
The 15 km (9 miles) rule is frustrating and can lead to strange situations—but it has become necessary because quite a few people simply ignore any guidelines, and firm rules are needed to effectively sanction violations that endanger public well-being.
If everyone acted responsibly and thoughtfully, popular destinations wouldn’t be so overcrowded and such regulations wouldn’t be needed (which I would prefer as well). Unfortunately, that’s not the case.

So, let’s keep going and refocus on the garden photo chat thread again 🙂

Currently organizing my seeds and hoping to find seed starting soil at Kaufland – nurseries, garden centers, and hardware stores are all closed...

I hope that my preferred retailer offers a pickup system. They are allowed to do so starting today, and I would prefer not to order online or buy anything in a supermarket. I have already sorted this out.

I think hardware stores will manage this fairly quickly. Especially the chains have experience. Commercial customers are allowed to pick up, and in other federal states private customers can as well.

We recently urgently needed building materials, and stores like Obi offer good delivery services. Our local Globus hardware store delivered to us in less than 24 hours, and they also have soil, seeds, and so on. Usually, you need to reach a certain minimum order value, but that’s easy to meet anyway 😎

You need to consider shipping costs for building materials. Many suppliers charge quite a lot. Soil, sand, gravel, and even some building materials are delivered by a landscaping contractor here. I often only pay 5 or 10 euros shipping. I only found out he does this through word of mouth.
