I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

It rained here as well. At times, it was even quite heavy for a longer period. Unfortunately, it was just a drop in the ocean. The soil already looks dry again. More rain is expected today. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
Due to the dry air, our beech hedge is full of aphids—just what we needed! Some plants survived the first winter, but after the second winter, they are dead. Seven of them are completely dry now, no signs of life left.

Finally, it has rained here again. I have already had to water twice this month because it has been extremely dry. My water barrels are now about half full.
Plants that are technically frost-hardy but were recently planted should still be protected against winter conditions for 2–3 years. At least, that’s what the gardener told me, from whom I bought part of the new flowering hedge. This winter, one of my roses died, and almost all of my ranunculus except for two stems, even though they had winter protection and there was enough precipitation. Some loss is always to be expected.

I’m trying to catch up on the beginning of the thread:
Haydee, I really like the stone walls as well! Very stylish! I always find sandboxes a bit risky because of potential misuse as a litter box for cats or as a home for ant colonies.
Nordlys, I’m curious to see how your planting bed develops. It certainly looks harmonious so far. However, I would definitely plant more. I’m concerned that too much weed growth might spread in the meantime, as it will take quite a while for it to become fully established.

Müllerin: The garden is sure to be beautiful! A very nice start!
Fummelbrett: Wow, that’s a large garden with a lot of planting. Amazing. Wishing the new trees grow well!
Merymery: I really like the pond. How large will the replacement pond be?
