I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

If you see nothing:
1) Open your eyes.
2) If they are open, take off the dark glasses.
3) If they are off and you still see nothing, turn on the monitor.
4) If that is on and it still says no signal, turn on the PC.
5) If everything is on, open, off, and you still see nothing, I’m out of ideas...

I’m joining in here as well! We have a 650m² (7,000 sq ft) plot of land that we’ve been clearing of weeds since 2017. The previous owner, an elderly gentleman, apparently hadn’t managed much maintenance for years. After countless hours in the garden and spending a lot on waste disposal, we now have a really lovely garden. As for fruit trees, I have an approximately 60-year-old sweet cherry tree, a plum tree about 6m (20 ft) tall, a sour cherry around 4m (13 ft) tall, a crabapple, and a peach tree that we planted fresh in 2018. Unfortunately, we had to cut down three old and sick apple and peach trees.
So, what else do I have? A raised bed with strawberries, chives, and soon giant pumpkins. Then I have many roses, hydrangeas, and peonies, plus a nice long flower hedge (about 40m (130 ft) in total) consisting of weigela, forsythia, butterfly bush, lilac, jasmine, red smoke bush, variegated privet, dogwood, and more. There’s also a small hibiscus hedge, currants, two raspberry bushes, and rhubarb. In the front garden, there’s a beautiful Amelanchier (serviceberry), roses, hydrangeas, some perennials like coneflowers, and ground cover plants like periwinkle and sedum scattered all over in a wild mix. Along the fence to the neighbor, we’re trying red sunflowers this year, and there I also have a sunny bed with roses, various sages, asters, chicory, betony, perennial sunflowers, evening primrose, phlox, coreopsis, coneflowers, and quite a few others in between, like thyme, which spreads like crazy anyway. There’s also a greenhouse, and in summer we grow cucumbers, bell peppers, jalapenos, various pumpkins, beans, tomatoes, eggplants, and probably more—but my brother is in charge of these. He obviously plans to make us self-sufficient sooner or later. If it were up to him, we’d convert the lawn into a potato field and more, but I’m not on board with that.
We’re currently converting part of the lawn into a wildflower meadow. A linden tree will be planted by the end of the year. Oh, and I almost forgot elderberry, maple, and a beech tree. Our garden is full of life, teeming with insects of all kinds, including hummingbird moths and hornets, various beetles, numerous species of ants, wild bees and honeybees, and every year the greenhouse hosts peaceful field wasps that are allowed to nest there.
Looking forward to exchanging ideas!
