Hello
we are looking for a garden shed or storage shed for our garden
Can anyone recommend a good garden shed for tools and storage space?
What should we consider?
Which material is best? I don’t want real wood because of maintenance requirements, and it should not be extremely noisy in the rain (usually metal)
What size is typical? I was thinking about something around 3 x 3m (10 x 10 ft) or so
Do you need to pour a foundation, or are ground slabs enough?

How about metal? Is it really that loud when it rains?
I thought you have to paint wood regularly or annually.Annually is a misconception. Regularly is correct, though. Common weather-resistant paints usually claim a durability of the coating of up to 10 years.H

I thought wood needs to be regularly or annually coated. If that were the case, there would be no very old wooden barns. Annual coating would bother me as well. If you use larch, you can simply skip coating it. It lasts a lifetime and naturally turns gray over time. Only the end grain should not be exposed to the weather. However, it is somewhat more expensive than other more affordable softwoods that require coating.Pwnage619 schrieb:
Are metal houses very loud when it rains? Pwnage619 schrieb:
What about metal? Are they really that loud in the rain? I don’t find metal houses too loud during rain; ours are located close to other houses, with bedroom windows facing that direction, and for us and the neighbors, the noise level is quite acceptable.
Tip: go to a hardware or garden center during rain and listen for yourself—this is what we did before purchasing.
Regarding options: there are offers online in all price ranges and sizes.
Use wood and a good paint, for example Jotun. This way, it will look good for 10 to 15 years and you won’t need to repaint.
Wood has many advantages. It insulates very well in winter, allows easy installation of interior fittings, is flexible to adapt, and above all, very stable.

How is metal roofing in terms of noise? Is it really that loud when it rains?
I thought that wood needs to be treated regularly, like every year. Nonsense. This is something hardware stores often say to sell oil treatments and similar products.
