Hello everyone,

I am planning, as shown in the attached picture, to build a garden shed or utility shed in autumn 2025 or spring 2026.

I have paved an area of about 4.50 m (15 feet) on the east side of my outdoor space to build something with a maximum size of 270 x 190 cm (9 x 6.2 feet).

The subbase: I excavated about 30 cm (12 inches) deep, laid gravel, compacted it (vibrated), then paved accordingly and compacted again.

So, I shouldn’t have any problems regarding the foundation. My idea was to build something without a separate floor so that I can use the paved area directly as the base.

Has anyone done something similar and can recommend a manufacturer of a suitable kit?
Is it also possible to build something yourself, and does anyone have recommendations?

We are quite flexible regarding the price… We don’t want a cheap metal shed for 300$, but also not a second home for 3,000$.

I think that for this rather small size, we can find something reasonable and still affordable.

Any other tips or points to consider?

Looking forward to your input! Thanks!

I have had good experiences with Holzwurm (in 56244 Hahn am See). You will have to search for them yourself, as I cannot provide a link. They offer a wide selection at reasonable prices.

If Heerlen is accessible to you, you can visit Eurohandel there to see a great display garden with models. Friends had a positive experience with a house from the mail-order range.
We did not receive permission for a garden shed and instead chose a nicely restored trailer from the 1960s. It works perfectly as well, though it always has a step for getting in and out.

Thanks in advance for the information.

I have also considered building one using aerated concrete blocks. I would just be a bit cautious about installing the roof.

In terms of cost, it would probably be more affordable.
