ᐅ Gable windows – we can’t decide.

Hello everyone,

Our shell construction is nearing completion, and we still have the option to redesign the gable window. It costs about €1100 (the first picture), since it is a custom shape. The attic is intended to be converted into living space in the future. We are currently unsure, as option 1 seems a bit expensive (due to the custom shape), but on the other hand, windows are not frequently replaced in the future.

What do you think about the proposals, and could you suggest any other options?

Thank you!

If no additional double casement windows will be installed and the space is truly intended for residential use, then as much glass as possible should be used. Shutters are naturally not an option with the pointed shape, which could actually be beneficial for living and sleeping areas.

- Are there no custom-sized roller shutters available?
- Roof windows are also planned to be used.

Very important point. If the sleeping or living area features a large triangular window and double casement windows, make sure to construct it so that external shading is possible; otherwise, the room will become unbearable. Alternatively, plan for a split air conditioning system from the start.

Just spoke with the window manufacturer.... Shading should be possible, but very expensive, they need to check with the shutter supplier..... but I have to decide quickly now :-(

Ok, the gable window will be a standard double casement window with a width of 2.0 m (6 ft 7 in), designed to be equally or more light-efficient and significantly more cost-effective.

The floor-to-ceiling windows in the children’s rooms will also be changed to windows with a parapet.

Thanks to all of you!
