Hello everyone!
We are building a two-story house with a gable roof with a 25-degree pitch:

Plans: Architect (Ingelheim)
Would you leave the gable completely open? This would result in a ceiling height of 4.18 m (13.7 ft) in the center of the house up to the bottom edge of the ridge beam.
Or would you install a ceiling? If so, at what height?
Do any of you have a similar attic roof and can share your experiences?
Best regards

We have a 22° roof pitch and a knee wall height of 2.60m (8.5 feet). It’s hard for me to say whether the rooms seem smaller because of this, but I definitely find the overall sense of space to be much better. The floor wouldn’t be practical to use anyway, and there is enough storage space in the basement. A few additional use options (like a loft bed, etc.) also arise from this or are easier to implement. I would definitely do it this way again!

With a nice, open timber structure (roof insulation above the rafters), I would probably feel differently. If that’s not possible, I’d prefer a ceiling height of 2.60 m (8.5 ft).
