Hello everyone,
I am currently facing the challenge of finding suitable furniture glides for my KALLAX shelf from IKEA. The shelf is placed on a laminate floor, and I want to prevent the feet from leaving scratches or the shelf from dulling when moved.
My question is: Which types of furniture glides work best with KALLAX? Are there specific glides that fit the plastic or wooden feet? Or do you even have experience with DIY solutions? It is also important to me that the glides are durable and easy to install.
I look forward to your tips and recommendations!

One tip that helped me: You can also try silicone furniture glides. They are a bit more flexible and adapt better to uneven surfaces.
I used these and found them really practical for KALLAX because they don’t slip easily and protect laminate flooring.
Don’t forget: Clean the underside with alcohol before sticking them on to ensure the adhesive bonds properly! And if you hear squeaking, a drop of silicone spray usually helps. 😉

Has anyone had experience with self-adhesive glides made of hard plastic or silicone?

Make sure the glides are large enough to protect the surface evenly.I can only confirm that. Small glides on KALLAX units are sometimes counterproductive because stability decreases and more pressure is applied to a few points.
I used sturdy felt glides that exactly cover the edge width. It works well, is cost-effective, and protects the floor.
