ᐅ Fuel cell heating system

Is there anyone with experience using the above-mentioned heating system? I would prefer practical experience but technical insights are also welcome. We have a quote for a Vitovalor 300-P from Viessmann. After deducting the BAFA subsidy from the quoted price (including complete piping and exhaust system), it is €8,390 (about $8,390) more expensive than a gas condensing boiler system with tube collectors and a buffer tank. Is the additional investment worthwhile? According to the manufacturer, there is a potential saving of 40% compared to electricity from the grid and gas condensing heating. For us, that would be just under €1,000 (about $1,000), which means the system would pay for itself within the first 10 years. Does anyone have experience with how much the cell’s power output decreases over time in terms of electricity generation?

Have you also taken the considerable maintenance costs into account?

Maintenance for the fuel cell is included, but not for the peak load boiler. Since these maintenance costs occur in both options, we exclude them from our analysis. Are there any other significant additional costs during the lifespan of a fuel cell?
