Hello,

We will have fiber optic installed in our new home. The following is planned:

- One access point centrally mounted on the ceiling per floor
- DECT base station on the ground floor

I have sketched the wiring layout. Are my assumptions correct, or is there an error?

Additional question:
We will be receiving IPTV. Our provider offers a rental receiver for €4.90. Is it necessary to use this receiver, or can any other IPTV receiver work as well? LAN connections will of course be installed to each TV (not shown in the diagram).

Thank you very much for your help.

Only if I want to bring the analog signal to a specific network outlet do I connect the Fritzbox directly to the patch panel using an RJ11/RJ45 cable and then can connect the analog phone to the corresponding outlet. Is that correct?
Yes. Directly patched through, without any electronics in between.

I now need to decide where to place the ceiling sockets for the access points (APs). In the basement, I would put one in the area labeled "Hallway." On the ground floor, I was thinking of having two APs: one in the entrance area to also cover the garage, and one in the hallway at the staircase to cover the terrace. Is that too many? Would one central AP in the hallway be enough? And is an AP even necessary in the basement, since the FritzBox is already located in the technical room?

Based on our recent experience, we will have two access points on the ground floor with only a slightly larger area. I would probably do the same here, placing the second one at the staircase landing (leading upstairs). That should also cover the terrace.

Like this, marked here in yellow?

No, for me that is the exit (from the basement stairs). I wrote

That referred to the stairs to the upper floor, otherwise the two work phases overlap too much.

More like this... and if you need Wi-Fi in the garage, I would install a separate access point there. The wall to the garage should be solid, after all.
