How deep would you set a strip foundation for a small 10 x 10 meter (33 x 33 feet) house (single story made of bricks, brick roof)? The house will be built in a frost-free and dry climate on dry but solid ground. In this case, do I even need reinforcement, or is simply pouring concrete into the formwork for the strip foundation sufficient? Is it enough to install the formwork at the surface, or do I need to dig a small trench of 10 x 10 meters (33 x 33 feet), and if so, how deep should it be in a frost-free zone? For such a small footprint and only one story, does the strip foundation need to be twice as wide as the brick walls? Or can I possibly use stronger concrete without reinforcement, simply pouring it into the formwork at the surface (meaning no trench, no reinforcement, just concrete in formwork at surface level)?

10x10 m (33x33 ft) "small" house?

Strip foundations according to the structural engineer’s specifications. Since it doesn’t seem to be in Germany, the forum can only offer limited help...

There are also slab foundations without strip footings, which you might have been referring to in your last paragraph.

Please leave it to a professional. It’s commendable that you know that reinforcement is also called rebar. There is no such thing as a shell; you mean formwork.

To me, this sounds like "we are building in southern Thailand." Am I right? Because there are many more important aspects to consider besides the structural ones! I speak from experience and could share these via private message.

Yes, of course, you need a strip footing. And reinforcement is definitely required as well.

Hello,

The first part of the statement is probably not correct.

@wrobel Well, you’re probably right, but that would mean the slab gets thicker. Without local knowledge, it’s all hypothetical anyway.
