Hello everyone.
I’m looking for some nice ideas to design our “front garden.”
It faces east, with a bit of southern sun coming around the corner as well.
The actual front garden is on the south side, and the style will likely continue there in a similar way as on the east side...
One idea was to cover everything with stones and let grasses grow.
Another thought was to plant a hedge along the fence.
Or should I keep it more or less as it is and just plant a few new, attractive shrubs and bushes?
The rooms you see are our children’s bedrooms, and unfortunately, there is also a main road nearby (from where I took the photo).
Hmm. Do you have any opinions on this? Or maybe some ideas and tips?
Looking forward to suggestions. Thank you!

I’m looking for the front yard shown in the photos—the one squeezed between the house and the street. So, the path that leads to the front door. Photos showing the front view would be helpful. Stones instead of a garden? No way!Alright. Sorry about that. I have now added a few photos of the actual front yard. The idea of using stones came up because we have a 2300 m² (about 0.57 acres) plot. Behind the house, there is roughly another 1200 m² (about 0.3 acres) of lawn. That’s why we’re considering a different design with stones in the front.

The response will probably be limited since nothing can be understood from your pictures or your text. How large is the area? What is its layout?
A simple hand sketch can sometimes work wonders. If it’s really only about 4-5m² (43-54 sq ft) of space, I don’t see much planning needed.Sorry. Now there are also images showing the section. I would need to measure the size. But overall, it will certainly be an area of about 50m² (540 sq ft), I think. Once the east side, which I already posted at the beginning, and then the south view of the entrance area.
I probably oversimplified things here yesterday. Hopefully, providing more information will help me move forward and make it easier for you to respond.
You can now see the new pictures.
The front door will be replaced, most likely with an anthracite-colored door. The stairs and walkway will be removed and also replaced.
That’s why I’m considering how we can make the overall design visually appealing.
Thank you for your effort!

Does it just look that way, or is the soil actually that sandy?
There is a bit, indeed. The shrubs (?) have probably been maintained for a few years. The bushes in the front right look somewhat neglected.
Sandy soil naturally suggests a low-nutrient meadow with a rock garden.
If there is enough energy available, I would remove the shrubs on the right. In the corner, place a corner bench with a small pond or birdbath in front, surrounded by stones. Along the right property boundary, build a dry stone wall. Let the sandy soil between the house and the right property boundary grow wild with low-nutrient meadow seeds. Along the path, add a few old small lanterns as pathway lighting....
