ᐅ Front Door Monitoring with an IP Camera at the Entrance – Any Ideas?

Hello
I am currently at the start of taking over my parents’ house.
As part of this, some modernization work will be done on the house, which is over 35 years old.
For example, the intercom system.
An old Siedle Vario is installed, which will be replaced by a modern system.
However, I would like to have a camera at the front door. The Siedle system seems either too limited or too expensive to me.
So the idea is to solve this with an IP camera at the entrance (I have already researched the legal aspects) and stream the video to a tablet mounted in the hallway.
What have you installed, and how did you implement it?
Regards,
Markus

However, it should not be mounted on the exterior wall of the house.
I am looking for a technical solution.
For example, an IP camera connected to a tablet, which could possibly be activated via the doorbell.

We are having a Goliath 2-wire bus installed.

I find the intercom system quite practical.Hmm, thanks for the explanation. For a two-family house where one unit is "upstairs," it’s definitely a good solution for the upper unit.
I usually only know intercom systems from apartment buildings. Those are used when the door is too far away to see who is there before deciding whether to open it or not. In a two-family house, one doorbell sounds "ding" and the other "dong," so you know exactly who is ringing.
The idea of being afraid of "visitors" and wanting to watch them unnoticed is a bit foreign to me. But I also don’t understand why people here board themselves up in the evening (all shutters down).

I know this is off-topic, but I have something that’s been on my mind.
My architects recently asked what kind of intercom system should be planned. And I was like, “Huh? Button with ding-dong and that’s it.” They looked at me like I was from another planet.
So my question is: Why would you need an intercom system, especially one with video, in a single-family home? Or is this mainly about secured gates at driveways? Hello Alex,
I’m familiar with the situation with architects – just with the roles reversed [emoji51]
Although I’m pretty sure I don’t need a door communication system, my partner brought up a valid point that shouldn’t be overlooked. With children in the house, it might make sense to at least have an intercom system. For example, I wouldn’t want them to open the door without first checking who is outside. For optional video transmission, the classic peephole still does the job...
Question for the group: Has anyone integrated their doorbell system with a home automation bus system or planned to do so?
