I recently came across an article about this topic and couldn't find any information here yet. I think it could be quite interesting for some of you who own (older) existing properties. I'll copy some information from the BAFA website here. If you find this relevant, you should check the details directly on their homepage.

We had an energy consultant visit us who recommended a hydraulic balancing of our heating system.

[ B ]Heating Optimization[ /B ]
Since August 1, 2016, the replacement of heating circulation pumps and domestic hot water circulation pumps with highly efficient pumps, as well as hydraulic balancing of the heating system, have been supported. The basis is the guideline for funding heating optimization through highly efficient pumps and hydraulic balancing.

[ B ]What is funded?[ /B ]
Investments in the following areas can be supported:

  • Replacement of heating circulation pumps and domestic hot water circulation pumps with highly efficient pumps
    • Circulation pumps
    • Domestic hot water circulation pumps
  • Heating optimization through hydraulic balancing of existing heating systems
  • Additional investments and optimization measures on existing systems can be funded in connection with the hydraulic balancing. These include the purchase and professional installation of:
    • Pre-adjustable thermostatic valves
    • Individual room temperature controllers
    • Manifold valves
    • Flow control technology
    • Separate measurement, control, and regulation technology and user interfaces
    • Buffer tanks
    • Professional adjustment of the heating curve

[ B ]What is not funded?[ /B ]
  • Measures in new buildings
  • Measures carried out due to legal obligations or official orders
  • Purchase and installation of used systems or new systems with used components
  • Self-performed work

[ B ]How is funding provided?[ /B ]
Funding is granted as a non-repayable grant, which is paid to the applicant after implementation of the measures and submission of the complete application documents.

[ B ]How much funding is available?[ /B ]
The funding covers up to 30% of the net investment costs for services related both to the replacement of heating circulation pumps and domestic hot water circulation pumps with highly efficient pumps and to the hydraulic balancing, with a maximum of 25,000 euros.

[ B ]How do I apply?[ /B ]
Applications are submitted [ B ]online[ /B ] in [ B ]two steps[ /B ].

  • [ B ]Before[ /B ] starting any measures, you must register online on the BAFA homepage. The registration link will be available in the "Forms" section from August 1, 2016.
