Hello everyone,

I have a small problem and could use some advice. I painted the glued laminated timber beams of my patio roof with wood preservative primer and white topcoat paint from Remmers. Unfortunately, the paint is now turning yellow. I have already found out that I should have used a sealing primer instead. That probably would have prevented this.

How can I fix this now? Is it enough to wait a few months until the beams have "off-gassed" and then repaint with topcoat? Would it help to apply a layer of sealing primer over the paint first, or does it only work directly on the wood?

Regards,
Midde

Hello Midde,

This is not advice from me personally, but I would recommend contacting Remmers directly. Explain your situation in detail and mention the products you have used.

I believe this way you will get the most informed answer, especially since you have already purchased a high-quality product. You can expect some support in this case.

I found the address holzschutz - at - remmers.de for this purpose. Alternatively, you can reach out to the retailer where you bought the product. However, I would personally prefer to speak directly with the manufacturer.

Good luck! mini_g!

Hi,

thanks for the tip. I contacted the manufacturer and received a quick response. Painting over with the topcoat wouldn’t help. It would discolor again. I was recommended a 3-in-1 insulating paint. I will try this now!
