After our energy supplier installed our multi-utility house entry last week (an element in the basement wall including four empty conduits in the utility room), we now need to fill the basement insulation cut out around the connection with expanding foam.
As a layperson, you can feel quite lost in the relevant aisle at the hardware store, and unfortunately, all knowledgeable staff there seem to prefer hiding rather than offering advice and support...
What type of expanding foam would you recommend?
At the moment, I am leaning towards a “well foam” that is waterproof, rot-resistant, and provides thermal insulation.
What do you think?
Best regards,
Dirk

Hello,
I can only speak from our own experience. In our case, the multi-utility connection was installed precisely with a special seal (I think it was called a Doyma seal) around it, which was then tightened securely (sorry for my layman’s explanation).
I also believe that expanding foam is not suitable at all for sealing (especially in the basement), but as a layperson, I could be wrong.
