Hello,

We are planning to install a flush-mounted radio in our bathroom. Does anyone have experience with the radios from Busch & Jäger or Gira? Are there any other brands that are recommended?

Does anyone have a recommendation for 2 ceiling speakers?

I can also confirm a bad experience with Sonos. The UP Radio is only good for very quiet background beeping. Our solution: Canton InCeiling 865 DT stereo speakers installed in 3 bathrooms, 2 hallways, 1 bedroom, and the kitchen. Used for "murmuring" and announcements from the BUS system. Centrally wired (each speaker with 4 cables of 4mm² (11 AWG)) connected to individual SMSL SA-50 amplifiers (I am extremely satisfied), with a USB sound card on a Linux machine. It works perfectly and definitely does not sound worse than Sonos. It’s also significantly more affordable... I’m not interested in any Apple stuff anyway, so I don’t need Sonos for that.

I have another question: can an in-wall radio from a different manufacturer also fit into a Busch Jäger electrical box? Are the dimensions standardized?

Hello,

I am currently looking into this topic as well. I would like to install a flush-mounted radio with Bluetooth. Is it possible that Gira has discontinued their Bluetooth docking station? The radio itself does not have Bluetooth. Has anyone installed a flush-mounted radio that can be turned on simply by connecting to it? For speakers, I am considering 2x Magnat IC62. Thanks

That was the reason why my brother installed the "Jung Digital Radio Smart Radio DAB+ Bluetooth Flush-Mounted" in the bathrooms on his side of the house. They fit into the Gira 55 frames and function quite well, although the sound quality is far from HiFi.

I’ve seen those as well. However, I wouldn’t choose flush-mounted speakers but rather something “better.” That way, the sound should at least be sufficient. Is a Bluetooth connection enough to turn it on, or does it always have to be switched on manually to establish a connection in the first place?

Do you really have no space for a proper radio in any cupboard? The sound quality is just poor. And a regular radio is also something you could take on vacation or something.
