Exterior wall of a building with downpipe and two red wall holes.

We had the electrician install power for outdoor cameras. The flush-mounted boxes now stick out several centimeters (inches) beyond the plaster. Is this normal? How should an outdoor camera or a cover be mounted on this without it looking really awkward? What do you think?

Is that really the electrical box, or just the plaster adjustment ring? If it’s the latter, you can replace it with a narrower one.

I was not aware of that; I will check it.

Kaiser flush-mounted boxes are black or gray, and the spacer rings are red. So it is very likely.

For splash protection reasons, I find it hard to imagine that flush-mounted boxes are the right choice for an outdoor installation.

No, that’s not normal, but what exactly did you order? This doesn’t look like it was planned properly.

Why power only and not network cables?
