Does anyone have experience with the Avatara Multisense flooring from Ter Hürne?
I would like to hear from users who have installed this Avatara Multisense in their homes.

Specifically, I am interested in the Oak Natural Beige 03 in 2100mm (83 inches) plank length.

No problem, you’re welcome to see it that way. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I look at it from a technical perspective and have my own distinct view on the matter.

Hello Steinbock,

I’m very interested to know how you managed to get the new flooring from Ter Hürne. Maybe we could exchange some thoughts on this topic.

We moved into our new house at the end of September 2018, which we fully covered with Avatar flooring. We also did our research beforehand and even read these articles here, then contacted Ter Hürne. They gave us the opportunity to test the flooring and we did not notice any issues. Since there were really no other negative reports online, we assumed it was an isolated case... However, we ordered a different decor (A11 light cracked oak) than the one we tested, and after just 4 weeks we were very disappointed, as small and larger dents appeared everywhere. Some we can accept ourselves, like when a hammer accidentally fell, but others we can’t explain at all, as we didn’t notice anything falling. We also have two young children and had specifically chosen not to go with solid hardwood flooring because of that. In hindsight, we would have preferred that, since although dents are visible, at least there is no carrier board showing.

Ter Hürne’s staff also came to see us and dismissed the dents as normal wear and mechanical impacts. The lab test also confirmed that the flooring meets the promised quality. (What else would you expect?)

Right now we are seriously considering hiring an independent expert ourselves.

I would really appreciate a reply on how it might be possible to get replacement flooring without going through legal action.

We are simply very disappointed that the floor is so vulnerable, because aesthetically and to the touch we still like it very much!!! But what will it look like in 5 years if after just 5 months there are already so many marks?

And as Vanessa already mentioned, you end up being overly cautious all the time...

Thank you in advance for any response...

Hey Jenny, it’s a long story. Weeks of exhausting correspondence. We involved a lawyer and I even threatened to go public with the whole issue. I wanted to get Sat 1 and Bild involved—I really raised the stakes. As a buyer, I have the right to a price reduction, repairs, or replacement when there are defects. Replacement would have been very costly because a carpentry shop would have had to remove all our built-in furniture to replace the flooring. This, along with storage of the furniture, our temporary move to a hotel during the flooring replacement, and other costs, would have resulted in a mid five-figure amount. So the new floor option was still the cheaper one. Of course, we had to make compromises; we just laid the new floor over the old one and didn’t remove the furniture to save costs. Fortunately, the seller at the specialty store was on our side, which helped a lot. In short, make a lot of noise and be persistent. No company wants negative publicity and they fear it. They insisted until the end that the floor was fine—but still provided a replacement. For me, that’s an admission, for Ter Hürne Hywood a way to avoid a bad reputation. But you’ll need a lot of patience and determination. Good luck!

Hello everyone, at the end of 2022 we installed a ter Hürne floor in our house.

TER HÜRNE Avatara 3.0 Wood Edition – Oak Midea. We chose this flooring because of the advertising claim "durable and easy to maintain."

Unfortunately, we are completely disappointed. After only 1.5 weeks in our new house, we noticed holes and dents. Now, after 2 months, the number of holes, cracks, chipped edges, and stains that can no longer be removed is increasing.

We want to explicitly warn against this manufacturer and product. What was promised is not what we received. We deliberately chose not to buy a product from a hardware store and invested a bit more money.

We are currently in contact with the manufacturer. The field service representative referred the promised durability only to the technical properties, but not to the visual appearance. If the product promise only refers to technical properties, then it should be advertised that way. It is outrageous to reduce a design floor solely to technical features.

Steinbock, Optimopti, are you still active here? I would like to discuss this with you.

Best regards,
M.D.

Good morning Kunde 2022,

Unfortunately, we were not successful in getting a new floor back then and are still living with the old one. In areas with heavy use or where things sometimes get dropped, like in the kitchen, there are already many chipped spots. I still find the floor quite sensitive and would not recommend it.

We were only able to obtain a repair kit, and occasionally, when I have enough time, I fix the worst damages. But it’s hard to keep up.

For now, we live with it, and once our children are grown, we hope to fulfill our dream of real hardwood planks.

I wish you the best of luck with your project! Feel free to keep me updated.

Best regards

Hello,
we are also about to involve a lawyer. Is it possible to exchange more detailed information with you?
