Hello dear forum members,
On the ground floor, I mostly have floor-to-ceiling windows, and partly there are things placed in front or just a small space (still in the planning stage). Outward opening could help here.
Is this done or not? Is it possibly not allowed?
Why not? Brilliant? Crazy idea? Unusual but feasible? Old hat?
Best regards
Tolentino

Ne Schwieva is installing the windows.
By the way, he also said it could be done, but it would be unusual. He mentioned the roller shutters too, even though the motors have an auto-stop feature. He didn’t see safety as an issue.
I’ve decided not to do it after all—if I ever sell the house, I won’t have to explain anything to anyone.
However, my wife thought the idea of being able to water the plants from outside was a good one.

Some architects occasionally use windows from a Danish window company that feature outward-opening sashes. These windows have a (in my opinion) attractive, simple, modern appearance with relatively narrow frames. More information can be found by searching for the term velfac.
What stands out are several reports online about condensation issues with these windows; it is difficult to determine whether these are just a few isolated cases.

I have already mentioned Velfac here, noting that they have announced the closure of their German sales office. However, I assume this will not be a significant obstacle for customers in Germany—unless they call in deep Bavarian dialect from Denmark. Unfortunately, I also see this move as an indication that this type of window opening is not well received in the German market.
