Hello,

we built a single-family house with a general contractor. Now we have the problem that the shell builder installed the roller shutter boxes too high, while the windows were ordered and installed according to the planned dimensions. As a result, the sill height of the floor-level windows increased from the planned 1 cm (0.4 inches) to about 9 cm (3.5 inches). The defect only became visible after the screed was applied. The issue was reported to the general contractor, but he refuses to address it, and the shell builder is also not taking any responsibility.

Does anyone have experience with this problem and can advise on how such a defect can be handled?

Regards

Just as it sounds with a good lawyer 😀
Otherwise, there’s only one option... tear it out and start over.
