Hello everyone,
the small plot of 18m by 18m (59ft by 59ft), totaling 324m² (3,484ft²), is located in sunny Baden-Württemberg in a highly sought-after area where there are hardly any plots or available apartments. Therefore, we won’t complain about this "small plot." We have planned for a long time, and the structural engineering should also work out as designed. Now, of course, we are interested in your opinions, especially your helpful suggestions for improvement, criticism, or praise.
I will address technical details separately.
Thank you very much.
Best regards, Freiburger2020

If you mirror it like that, the gap remains unused.
How about removing the balcony on the upper floor, relocating the terrace on the ground floor out of the too-small corner, and instead creating a large light well for both rooms of the granny flat? The terrace could then serve as a cooking and dining area. Possibly move the parking space to where the garden shed is now and provide access to the office also via the light well, which was formerly the terrace.

Having one entrance for the granny flat by the large light well on the west side and another entrance on the east side for the ground floor/upper floor, like before, seems like wasted space since it requires two separate paths to the street and the granny flat shouldn’t be accessed right through the garden or terrace.
Finally, a proposal. Of course, we will eventually consult an architect, but not with such a chaotic plan :-) I’ll post it later. Where did you plan the entrances in your diagram?

Let the basement living area extend up to 1.40m (4.6 feet) above ground, provide skylights for each of the basement rooms, and skip the light wells. In this case, you can’t get any more natural light. Then I’m missing 1.40m (4.6 feet) of height for the upper floor. The eave height and total building height are determined by the neighboring house. So, I think this idea is bad. While the basement may be bright, there is no proper upper floor or attic, and the ground floor is at a 1.40m (4.6 feet) level. That means I would need a very tall base for the terrace.
The entrances and stairs are the most important features. Everything else will follow from that. That’s all I have to say about the diagram. I think two entrances are a bit much for such a small area. Also, four parking spaces are more than I would ever need. Maximum two, plus bicycle parking.
