Hello everyone,
the small plot of 18m by 18m (59ft by 59ft), totaling 324m² (3,484ft²), is located in sunny Baden-Württemberg in a highly sought-after area where there are hardly any plots or available apartments. Therefore, we won’t complain about this "small plot." We have planned for a long time, and the structural engineering should also work out as designed. Now, of course, we are interested in your opinions, especially your helpful suggestions for improvement, criticism, or praise.
I will address technical details separately.
Thank you very much.
Best regards, Freiburger2020

First, you didn’t fill out the questionnaire, and now you say there were already proper plans. It’s hard to stay engaged like that.
When you said, “it should also work structurally like that,” it made me cringe, and I knew this thread would be entertaining but frustrating.
You’ve now heard from many that the plans aren’t good. Do yourself a favor and let go of your current plans—they won’t improve with minor tweaks. A new concept is needed, one based on a reality check, not one that tries to cover every possible scenario (which, by the way, was also my initial mistake, as was underestimating the usable building area).

What is wrong with the plans? What don’t you like about them?
Here’s a completely different thought. You’re planning to have another child, so I assume you are still under 40, and there should be about 40 more years before the expected, possible need for care arises (setting aside tragic accidents or serious illnesses). No one knows how care will be organized by then.
You mentioned the neighboring house belongs to your parents and that it also has a separate apartment, is that correct?
By the time you might need care, the inheritance will probably have taken place (this is not meant heartlessly), and depending on whether you have siblings and what their plans are, you could then move into your parents’ house and have all the possibilities there that you currently have to compromise on with your new build.

You said the neighboring house belongs to your parents, and they also have a basement apartment, is that correct?
By the time it’s your turn, the inheritance will probably have taken place (no offense intended), and depending on whether you have siblings and what they want, you could then move into your parents’ house and have all the options there that you’d have to compromise on with your new build today. That’s exactly what crossed my mind while reading!

Hausbautraum2018 Feb 2021 18:46So, I quite like the design posted now. What don’t you like about it?
You don’t have to do everything the way others like it, but your plan is actually just chaotic :-(
Why can’t you make some improvements based on the second plan?
