Hello everyone!

We have purchased a triangular plot of land. As if that weren’t complicated enough, there is also a large oak tree that must be considered during the planning. In our initial considerations, it quickly became clear that the floor plan will have an L-shape.

Does anyone here have experience with this type of plot and a correspondingly shaped floor plan? What additional information is needed to get meaningful advice?

Best regards

I don’t believe there are statutory deadlines for a structural engineer’s services. From my perspective – and this is not legal advice – this is a standard service contract, meaning that a complaint with a reasonable deadline should be made first. Cancellation would probably only be appropriate after an additional deadline has passed.

Update: Construction work halted because the excavator operator hit an illegally installed high-voltage cable from the utility company!

Somehow, things just aren’t getting started...

Annoying, but if there was no easement, there is no reason to worry too much.

For us, the fiber optic cable for the entire neighborhood was also cut on the very first day of groundwork. It was simply located in a place where it shouldn’t have been. The future neighbors were all really informed about the start of our construction.

Oh dear
What did the inspector send us on the handover day?
The homeowner is done, we can stop

Fortunately not.

Now, of course, it is taking longer. We should actually be entitled to compensation for damages, shouldn't we?

However, the worst was the neighbor who has been bothering us since day one: He came onto the property with a sense of schadenfreude and claimed, "I knew there was an electrical cable there!" Unbelievable, right? It really could have been much worse! Unbelievable!

Well, that leaves you speechless.
No one needs neighbors like that.
Something serious could have happened.
