Doc.Schnaggls23 May 2014 13:27Hi OliverZ,
you could try experimenting a bit with the layout...
Maybe move or enlarge the bathroom to the right or left, up to the 2m (6.6 ft) line, and then plan the bedroom opposite it.
The walk-in closet could then possibly be designed not as a separate room, but for example as a niche under the sloping roof, visually separated with (glass) sliding doors...
If you leave out the hallway and place the bedroom door directly next to the staircase, you would gain significantly more space to move walls or partitions around.
Sure, a door right next to the stairs isn’t necessarily ideal, but given the relatively narrow width of the house, it might be a worthwhile alternative...
This way, you could effectively design the entire attic floor as a sleeping area with bathroom and walk-in closet (like a hotel suite) without losing valuable (because limited) space to a hallway.
Best regards,
Dirk

Hello Dirk,
This door is "not only" far from ideal, but also technically "not" approved according to building regulations 😉
Regards, Bauexperte ???
It was constantly approved here. Personally, I don’t find it appealing, but our neighbor built it that way.

Bauexperte23 May 2014 14:32Hello,
"Constantly" built without planning permission will probably be closest to the truth; the typical regional variations are not that different after all. The building code states the following:
... a staircase must not start immediately behind a door. There must be a stair landing between the door and the stairs, which should be at least as deep as the door is wide. Larger depths of the stair landing may be required depending on the direction of the staircase.
If your neighbor received her building permit / planning permission through the simplified approval process, her architect is responsible with his signature on the building application to ensure that all regulations were followed 😉
Best regards, Bauexperte
