Hello everyone,
I need your advice.
We are happy with our floor plan, but the staircase is giving me trouble. I can’t decide. I definitely want a staircase with a landing. Now there are two options to choose from.
One takes up a lot of space, and the other is right at the front door. Do you have any ideas?

I prefer option 2. The staircase divides the house nicely, and when going up and down, you don’t always have to pass by the front door.

I find the hallway in front of the stairs leading to the WC quite narrow in option 2 (the true landing staircase). There is no exact measurement provided, but compared to the door dimensions, it seems to be about 1.0–1.1 m (3.3–3.6 ft) wide. The clearance in front is also 1.2 m (3.9 ft).

In our current apartment, the hallway has a rough construction width of 1.15 m (3.8 ft). I wouldn’t want it any narrower than that.

Your hallway is roughly 5 m (16.4 ft) long, so it’s not exactly short either. Without windows, it might become quite dark.

For these reasons, I would prefer the 90° staircase. The entrance feels much larger and more inviting compared to the true landing staircase.

However, without exact measurements and the upper floor plans, it’s difficult to make a proper assessment.

By the way: the house lengths are not the same (12.50 vs. 13.00 m (41.0 vs. 42.7 ft)). Is that intentional?

You can take a look at our plan; it’s not a typical landing staircase, but a split one. I’m not sure what the exact term is for this type.

Attached is an example image showing how it might look in real life. We are currently reviewing a few examples to see what possibilities there are—built-in or with railings, natural stone or tiles, with or without an overhang...

The layout of the upper floor is not yet completely finalized; it depends on the staircase. I don’t have any other measurements at this point. The difference in house lengths is intentional—it's interesting what details you notice.

The split staircase also takes up a lot of space. It becomes cramped and dark.
I am now leaning more towards the quarter-turn staircase (is that the correct term?).
What I really don’t like, however, is having the staircase immediately visible when you open the door.
