Hello dear community,
I have been a silent reader in this forum so far and am always impressed by the ideas shared here. Now I need some help myself.
We are currently planning an extension to our house. Upstairs, we want to create our new bedroom with an en suite bathroom and a walk-in closet. However, the current design does not fully convince us yet. Maybe you can help us with a creative idea for a redesign.
What is important to us:
- The north side and the street side are at the bottom of the plan. Therefore, we would preferably like to keep the sleeping area on the south side if possible.
- All windows and walls in the room can be changed. Only the door to the bedroom must remain in its current position.
Attached is the floor plan. What do you think? What alternatives do we have?
Thank you in advance for your ideas and best regards
Hannah

@katja: Something like that would have been my preference too, but unfortunately, due to the noise from the street side, I can neither fall asleep nor stay asleep there 🙁 it’s a kind of condition 🙁
Since there have been repeated mentions of the wastewater pipe, I have another question: Would it make sense to swap the dressing room and bathroom in the attic? Because of the shallow roof pitch, the ceiling height at the “high end” of the bathroom would be 2.60 meters (8 feet 6 inches) and at the “low end” 2.00 meters (6 feet 7 inches). Would the bathroom feel oppressive then? Considering the pipe layout, this would definitely be the better option.

hanghaus202326 Mar 2023 09:06Could you please mark the 2 m (6 ft 7 in) line on your plan? Also, possibly include the roof pitch and knee wall height. Is there a cross-section available? When it comes to installing water supply and drainage, this is a real challenge. I hope this has been factored into the budget.
Is there a basement?

hanghaus202326 Mar 2023 09:21Sorry, I have just now seen the attic floor plan. It’s useful to know the roof pitch of the mono-pitched roof.
Don’t you have an architect for the renovation?
