Hello dear community,
I have been a silent reader in this forum so far and am always impressed by the ideas shared here. Now I need some help myself.
We are currently planning an extension to our house. Upstairs, we want to create our new bedroom with an en suite bathroom and a walk-in closet. However, the current design does not fully convince us yet. Maybe you can help us with a creative idea for a redesign.
What is important to us:
- The north side and the street side are at the bottom of the plan. Therefore, we would preferably like to keep the sleeping area on the south side if possible.
- All windows and walls in the room can be changed. Only the door to the bedroom must remain in its current position.
Attached is the floor plan. What do you think? What alternatives do we have?
Thank you in advance for your ideas and best regards
Hannah

I would definitely give this some serious thought. Choosing such a layout is certainly quite "unconventional," but the drawbacks mentioned cannot be overlooked. The moisture from showering can probably be managed reasonably well with a mechanical ventilation system and proper exhaust. However, having the toilet so close to the bed is borderline in any case. Just think about hotel rooms—I have encountered a few layouts that felt uncomfortably open or where noise could easily be heard.

I need to inquire about the downpipes. Unfortunately, as you’ve probably already noticed, I have no knowledge about them at all. And this is exactly why brainstorming without knowing the ground floor (GF) layout is somehow pointless.
It won’t work like this: the ground floor (GF) and the upper floor (UF) are interdependent.

Thanks for all the opinions. At least the original poster has learned where their post is lacking. The information provided is simply too insufficient.
There are colored sections on the plan, and in my opinion, the entire roof is supposed to be converted into living space, right?
