Hello. My partner and I are planning to build a house soon. This is the first draft from the planner at the construction company. The design was created based on our specifications (a hand-drawn sketch from us).

Gable roof, single-family house, no basement, 1.5 stories, currently 2 people in the household; later 3-4.

The terrace is planned to be adjacent to the kitchen and living area, mainly facing west. Do you think it would be better to have it facing south instead? Possibly wrap around the corner near the living area?

Our requirement was to have direct access from the garage/carport into the utility room, and from there directly into the kitchen.

- Is the size of the utility room sufficient? All the building services should be housed there. Additionally, the utility room should also serve as a kind of pantry. Laundry tasks will also be done there.
- What do you think about the downstairs bathroom? Showering directly in front of the window doesn’t seem ideal^^.

I let the elephants be elephants.
Anyone who is capable of making a hand drawing can also do it with a software program. They just save a lot of time and hassle.
It’s just old-fashioned talk: "Nobody needs this newfangled stuff." Anyone who says that is simply unable to use it properly. How was it? 17 differently sized windows because you didn’t use copy and paste? Sorry, that just means you’re not skilled.
From the beginning, this was about a preliminary drawing, and the elephants are complaining as if I uploaded a finished architectural plan. "Baa, the door is blocking the cupboard. Baa baa, where is the rocking chair?"
And yet I boldly emphasized that my drawing is not up for discussion!
I stand by that. I wanted to help the original poster and provide a tool for them to help themselves.

No more than other software users either, as this is quite a common issue in drawings presented here.

That’s a generalization and therefore a worthless statement. And not more important—so what? The simple pencil sketch doesn’t even have windows.
Please leave out the window blah blah and the doors blocking the cabinets when we’re talking about basic structures. About the initial phase. Not the final version.
And for that purpose, the tool is very well suited for people who at least know what shortcuts are.

Just ask Hundertwasser. He didn’t even have right angles or straight edges...

So. Now the original poster will be quite shocked when they read all the nonsense in their otherwise nice thread...

That was never my intention. I didn’t know I would get overrun by elephants because of it.
