Hello everyone,
I have made a few changes to our floor plan. 00 is the current plan and 01 is my proposed version.
The advantage of 01 is having a window in the kitchen and more space in the utility room. If a covered entrance is desired, that can be added (it does not necessarily have to be a side entrance door from the carport).
What do you think?
Another consideration is the entrance door from the living room, where a sliding door would make the most sense. However, there is a lack of about 17 cm (7 inches) of space for this. There were two suggestions: 1. extend the wardrobe 17 cm (7 inches) into child’s room 1, 2. make the study, utility room, and kitchen 17 cm (7 inches) narrower. I don’t really like either of these options.
Does anyone maybe have a better idea?
Any other suggestions and improvements?
We would really appreciate your opinions.
Best regards

Let me summarize your message into interim points:
„My advice is always good, and anyone who doesn’t see that is stupid“ ;-)
By the way, I don’t feel patronized but rather describe your hidden/emphasized appeal.
See, this is another pointless argument...
Sorry, but I’d rather save myself that. What’s going on with you?
I recall that I, @kbt09, and @11ant helped you with your bungalow (and very few others).
At some point, you shut down because you were annoyed. But I can’t be responsible for your nerves.
Why should everything I *believe* be correct?
That’s nonsense, otherwise I wouldn’t come up with several design proposals, since that would contradict myself.
For me, there are always multiple solutions, not just one!
Take a look at your own thread!
This is a mystery to me as well!
Yes, I closed it because you and @kbt09 wanted to plan a house for yourselves ;-).
But I would say everything is fine :-)
I’ll continue like this:
1. A utility room without a window but with a fan is acceptable, or should a window be planned there? (The window would then be located under the carport.)
2. The entrance from the living room is not yet ideal for me. What do you think about removing the door from the living room completely? I can’t quite tell if it would feel comfortable or not.

For ventilation, a window is not very practical—who would go there just to close it again? So it would likely stay permanently tilted open, which isn’t ideal.zizzi schrieb:

Use a glass panel at the top of the door to bring in light without adding an extra window. For ventilation, a window isn’t very practical—who would go all the way there just to close it again? So it would likely be left open permanently, which isn’t ideal either. Nonsense. A room without a window is always, always, always a bad idea. And a bungalow certainly doesn’t require a long trek to reach it. Even being under a carport is better than nothing. Just for situations where you need to pass something through the window (we’ve had to do this multiple times, whether water, electricity, tools, or climbing gear) — imagine if you want to vacuum the car and there’s no outdoor power outlet — boom, cable through the window.
So just go for it. 🙂
The issue with Zizzi ypg is that you insisted quite firmly on having your side entrance and were not open to logical arguments. Almost everyone agreed that it would significantly restrict your plans and force you to accept considerable compromises.
There was never a "Yes, you’re right, we’ll discuss this again," but always a "This is not an option, but a must." And now that "must" is simply dropped. Given all the effort that was made, it’s understandable to feel a bit misled.

In theory, I agree with your view, but in practice, I expect the window to be left tilted open most of the time. Therefore, I consider integrating it into the mechanical ventilation system to be sensible (and then a “closed” window does not cause any loss).

if there isn’t an outdoor socket – boom, cable through the window. If there is no outdoor socket: well, someone who forgot it should be held accountable. This is something not to be overlooked in new construction. And it should be switchable, after all, it’s not supposed to be an outdoor outlet for burglars ;-)
