Hello dear forum community,

My wife and I are planning to start our building project in a few months. It will be an urban villa with approximately 160 m² (1,722 sq ft) of living space. We have already purchased the plot of land (540 m² (5,813 sq ft)) and are currently in the planning phase. We would like to build with a general contractor and are actually quite satisfied with the one we have chosen so far.

However, we are not entirely sure about the floor plan and whether it really works well. This is our first (and hopefully last) building project. We would appreciate feedback from more experienced people who can offer us some tips. Thanks in advance!

@ypg No, I already understood that correctly from you. Maybe I should use quotations more often.

It should have been wider.

This post confused me a bit. I do think I have taken some advice to heart here (see bathroom, bedroom, limited space for dining area, etc.). At the moment, my main question is how to get as much natural light into the house as possible.
I find the idea of a 90-degree rotation very interesting, as it would really allow much more light from the south/southwest to enter the house.

Proper dressing rooms (big enough for several maids to surround the princess) are rarely discussed in this forum.

Didn't you see the forest for the trees? – of course, it makes more sense to orient the living room itself toward the west garden, rather than only the west-facing windows of the north living room.

The headline is confusing, but this is a guide to house planning on the plot of land.
