Hello fellow home builders,
We are now just about to take over the house and are planning the floor coverings. We will of course need a self-leveling compound on top of the screed, but which one?
What are your experiences, especially regarding manufacturers and the thickness to use?
We have narrowed it down to the store brand from Hornbach (Akkit 201) and Knauf self-leveling compound. The price should stay reasonable, since there is always room to spend more, as we have seen.
The area is about 150m² (1,615 sq ft).
Thank you very much for your help and information.

I used leveling compound from Botament, if I remember correctly, designed for 0–20mm (0–0.8 inch). I leveled the entire surface, wet-on-wet of course. It was a really tough job. I recommend a good mixer, three helpers, and generally good tools.
However, I can’t really imagine your floor being that uneven. Could it perhaps only need spot filling?

The tile adhesive doesn’t care about the leveling compound, and usually, you don’t need a leveling compound for it either. However, if you’re applying adhesive for parquet or vinyl, you need to be careful because these are usually approved only as part of a specific system. If problems arise, you’ll be on your own. We use leveling compound and adhesives from Uzin and are very satisfied.
