Hello everyone,

Your experiences are needed here as well.
Have you installed walk-in showers with linear drains or shower trays?
What has been your experience? What has proven to be reliable?
Best regards, Xinette

I simply find tiles more attractive.

For me, this is purely an aesthetic choice, as long as you are not building for accessibility. We have floor-to-ceiling tiles, 2 meters long (6.6 feet) and without glass... It looks stylish and is not slippery due to the irregularly rough tile surface.

The crucial point for the thread starter is: This is truly a matter of aesthetics (not just "for me"), since with proper execution, both solutions are similarly durable and watertight.

We also have two walk-in tiled showers. One is 90 x 90 cm (35 x 35 inches) in a recessed area with a glass door in the guest bathroom, and the other is 240 x 100 cm (94 x 39 inches) without a door in the main bathroom.

The drains are each located at the front wall using a channel drain in the floor.

The appearance was also an important factor for us.

Hello,
our architect advised against tiled showers because they tend to look unattractive over the years. He suggested we use completely flat shower trays instead. I should mention that we have very hard water here. After just one shower, there are already lime scale spots on the glass shower screen! However, we have no experience with tiled showers yet, as we are still in the planning phase for our second house.

I find shower trays to be cleaner and more hygienic. Our shower tray still looks bright white and like new after 15 years. I don’t think that would be the case with a tiled shower floor. Wet tiles feel somehow unpleasant to me. For our new house, I would like to have a shower tray again. I hope there are nice, modern solutions for that nowadays. Best regards, Steffi33

Maybe something like this...

Modern shower area in the bathroom with glass partition, gray tiles, and showerhead.
