Hello everyone,
we are currently planning the floor construction for our house renovation.
The house is a bungalow with a partial basement.
We removed the screed and insulation because we want to install underfloor heating and proper insulation. The base floor structure has varying heights; the basement rooms are higher than the non-basement ones.
The current plan is as follows:
1. Styrofoam screed as leveling fill to bring all rooms to one level
2. On top, 5cm (2 inches) Austrotherm Resolution insulation boards
3. On top, Uponor Classic vapor barrier, then a wet system underfloor heating
4. On top, a traditional heated screed layer of 6-7cm (2.5-3 inches) (final thickness to be determined by the screed contractor)
5. Floor covering
My question is: Does anyone here have experience with Austrotherm Resolution floor insulation boards for thermal insulation? Or comparable rigid foam insulation products with resol foam? I am concerned about the product specification, which states a compressive strength of only 30 kPa (3 t/m2) at 10% compression, while I have seen values ranging between 100-300 kPa elsewhere. Is the 30 kPa rating realistic?
According to the manufacturer, this product is intended specifically for use as insulation under screed. I have already contacted the manufacturer to check if the value on the website might be an error.
Thank you very much and best regards,
Eike
