willi_is_on9 Jul 2018 10:33Hello community,
This concerns an old house with damp soil in the living area. The house was built in the 1960s, has no basement, and has a concrete slab floor. The issue becomes noticeable through damp spots in the carpet, which of course also causes an unpleasant odor.
Since there is currently no budget for a complete renovation of the floor, I am looking for a solution for the next two years.
What can I do with the floor to prevent moisture from entering the living space? Which type of flooring is advisable after treating the floor?
Thank you in advance.

willi_is_on21 Jul 2018 11:33What could be the cause of the floor slab being damp? And what does drying technically involve? There are no water pipes running under the floor. The water pressure in the heating system is also stable. There is no underfloor heating.

It is most likely moisture seeping through the floor slab during rain.

If moisture is coming through the concrete slab and the carpet is already damp, I wouldn’t want to live in there. Mold?
