Our flat roof from 1970 needs to be replaced soon. One quote amounts to 24,000 euros, where not everything will be removed but rather built on top of the old roof. The offer comes from a roofer we know only slightly – I don’t really think she would try to rip us off.
The insulation will be increased to 28 cm (11 inches).
The roof is about 87 sqm (935 sq ft). Is this price realistic? That would be 274 euros per sqm (25.5 USD per sq ft). There are also 2 chimneys present.
Another offer for a complete rebuild comes to 30,000 euros.
Online you often read prices between 100 and 200 euros per sqm (9.3 to 18.6 USD per sq ft), which would be much less.
What do you think?

Winniefred1 Feb 2021 17:14What exactly is supposed to be done? To me, 24,000 EUR (about $25,900) already sounds quite a lot, especially if the old "stuff" isn’t going to be completely removed...
However, I almost fainted at a quote of 39,000 EUR (about $42,100) for our rather small roof as well (hip roof).
