Hello,

we have now completed the planning of our kitchen.

Now we are working on the installation plan for our builder.

1. Question: How many water connections are usually installed in a kitchen? One for the sink and one for the dishwasher, or do they typically share one?

2. Question: What do you think about a side-by-side refrigerator with a fixed water connection?

We believe a fixed water connection is the better and more convenient solution for a refrigerator with an ice maker.

Can the refrigerator be connected to the same water line, or does it definitely need its own separate fixed water connection?

The dishwasher is about 80cm (31 inches) away from the refrigerator, and the sink is about 150cm (59 inches) away. So, for the refrigerator, we would need a hose of about 150cm (59 inches). Is that still short enough?

Is there also an AquaStop option available for the refrigerator hose?

The manufacturers' aquastops are usually integrated into the supply hose. There is nothing more you can do unless you cut the hose and install a T-piece.

It is better to simply add another one before it.

All right! Thanks for the explanation!

A much better idea would be to place the water connection close to the refrigerator and use a long hose leading to the sink and dishwasher. Otherwise, it really depends on how often you use it. If you have been away for a few days, I would let the water run for a short while before taking a sip, but this is no different from what you do with a regular faucet.

I don’t see the need for a fixed water connection. We have three children who all enjoy nibbling on ice cubes in the summer and a grandfather who likes to make a long drink with them in the evening. The 4-liter (1 gallon) tank from our LG lasts almost the whole year. In summer, I just refill it with fresh water every few days while waiting for the coffee. I would only consider a fixed water connection if it really requires no extra effort.

You’re forgetting people like us, who don’t just use ice cubes in summer but draw water from the connection multiple times every day. So don’t assume your usage applies to others; advice should be personalized. If we had a tank, I’d be cursing all the time because I’d have to refill it several times a day—already annoying enough with the coffee machine. 😉

I don’t need any water from the fridge, not even ice cubes, just saying in relation to us...
