Hello,

we have now completed the planning of our kitchen.

Now we are working on the installation plan for our builder.

1. Question: How many water connections are usually installed in a kitchen? One for the sink and one for the dishwasher, or do they typically share one?

2. Question: What do you think about a side-by-side refrigerator with a fixed water connection?

We believe a fixed water connection is the better and more convenient solution for a refrigerator with an ice maker.

Can the refrigerator be connected to the same water line, or does it definitely need its own separate fixed water connection?

The dishwasher is about 80cm (31 inches) away from the refrigerator, and the sink is about 150cm (59 inches) away. So, for the refrigerator, we would need a hose of about 150cm (59 inches). Is that still short enough?

Is there also an AquaStop option available for the refrigerator hose?

I've always been the ice cube type! So it's a luxury I enjoy and don't want to give up anymore.
Definitely with a connection then!
Containers need to be cleaned. If water remains inside, germs and bacteria will develop.

Thank you for sharing your experiences.

We will have one water connection with a T-piece for the sink and dishwasher. At one end, we will need to add another T-piece or a two-way splitter for the dishwasher and refrigerator.

The hose needs to be about 150cm (59 inches) long.

We will definitely use a fixed water connection.

There are not only side-by-side refrigerators or French door models with ice maker functions, but also freezer or fridge/freezer combos (like Liebherr) that include an automatic ice maker in the freezer compartment, of course with a fixed water connection. This setup has been sufficient for me for almost 16 years; I get cold water from the kitchen tap.

If you decide to go for this feature, make sure it has a fixed water connection, because otherwise the water container is always empty when you actually need it. I also had an extra water line installed as close to the refrigerator as possible.

Ice cubes are not only for drinks; for example, when you want to quickly cool blanched vegetables to preserve their color, ice cubes are very useful.

You can also branch off after the Aquastop, then it protects everything.
The flow rate is sufficient,
all appliances are using less and less water

I'll add my question here. Is it really possible to connect the refrigerator after the dishwasher’s Aquastop?

Second question:
Could you buy an additional Aquastop and connect only the refrigerator to it? (Most likely, the refrigerator is the only appliance on this side of our kitchen.)

You can install it not behind but in front, if you like, even with an additional aquastop directly at the faucet.

So, does that mean the statement from my quote is incorrect?
