Hello dear forum members.
After 10 years, I had to remove the green drywall panels in the shower area because they absorbed water, causing some tiles to crack. Now I want to rebuild the shower area! I have a timber frame house, and the two shower walls are made of structural lumber covered with OSB (oriented strand board) panels. Instead of drywall, I want to attach Wedi boards directly to the OSB as a substrate for the tiles.
One professional says to screw the Wedi boards onto the OSB. Another professional reacts with "Oh my goodness," saying that this isn’t stress-free and prefers to fix the Wedi boards with flexible adhesive (notched trowel size 8 or 10). Then there is also the Wedi board adhesive called "Wedi 610."
Now I’m completely confused...
I should mention that our timber frame house has very little movement—over 10 years I have seen no cracks in tiles, grout, or anywhere else!
I would appreciate it if you could help me get started here.
Thank you very much
