ᐅ Fitness corner in the utility room?

Quick question, is this a viable option? It’s about a so-called power rack and a bench for bench pressing. Is the utility room a suitable space for this? Surely better than an unheated attic or garage? What do you think?

An office, for example, is unnecessary—I have that at work. A desk doesn’t need its own room.

You shouldn’t assume others are the same as you... even without working from home, having a room with a desk is usually very useful. Especially when you have children...

So, as a child, I used to sit at the kitchen table. That is usually the central hub of the house. Later on, I spent time in my own room.

The office was mainly used for the PC, but nowadays that has become obsolete.

Exactly! Since you shouldn’t assume others have the same habits as yourself, you also shouldn’t advise him to skip the fitness room just because others don’t use such a space. ;-)

I’m not referring to the child on the computer, but to the parents – and there are quite a few tasks to take care of, which I wouldn’t want to do in the kitchen or dining room. Especially not when children are still running around there…

Everyone has different habits and needs. That’s why people build their own houses. You can even have a desk in the gym room.

Usually, people adopt many habits from their parents’ home. But that’s not really the case for me.

Yes, that's why you should avoid stating what is unnecessary...

That was poorly phrased by me; I actually meant "for me."

But there are so many rooms in my circle of friends that seem strange to me and that I find unnecessary. Home theater, drying room (for laundry), library, model train room (yes!), sauna room, etc.

It is perfectly normal and important to have space for hobbies.
