Hello dear forum community,

since the first draft from the draftsman didn’t quite match my taste, I took pencil and paper myself today to create an initial sketch.
What do you think?

The drawings are oriented to the north.

Rectangular floor plan with living area on the left, dining table in the center, office on the right, staircase in the middle.

House Design
Who designed it: do-it-yourself
What do you especially like? Why?
What do you dislike? Why?
Price estimate according to architect/planner:
Personal price limit for the house, including fixtures: 480,000 EUR
Preferred heating technology: air-to-water heat pump

If you have to give up something, which details/extensions
-you can give up: straight staircase
-you cannot give up: large windows on the ground floor

Why does the design look the way it does?
Mix of many other designs

What is the most important / fundamental question about the floor plan summarized in 130 characters?
What can still be improved? Can the floor area be reduced a bit?

As you know, I appreciate every analog drawing.
Orienting the plans to north is good – but on which plot?
I can’t make out anything about the shed roof from the floor plans; please show more.
If the draftsmen’s plans were the basis here, please show those as well and explain where and how the changes were made.

First of all, a relief for the eyes – the dimensions are self-explanatory.
Nevertheless, please upload the planner’s design since you are referring to it.
And the site plan, please.

The basic idea of a staggered shed roof came from a prefab house. The starting point was roughly this:

Modern two-tone house facade with terrace and balconies

Even though we would like to fully utilize the eave height of 6 m (20 feet).

And the plot with our idea for the orientation looks like this:

Hand-drawn floor plan on squared paper with nested rectangles and terrace.

To ensure there is some lawn, flower beds, and garden on the south side, we would build as far north (towards the street) as possible (building setback 3 m (10 feet)).

Unfortunately, I am not allowed to share the first drafts from the draftsman :/

Could you please mark north on the plan? Oriented to true north would mean north at the top, but that doesn't align with the terrace.

Then why not provide us with some elevations for your floor plans? Neighboring properties are also missing: the street seems to be at the bottom of the plan (?), but where does the angled line come from—is the street turning there?
