ᐅ Fireplace Opening Cladding / Grille

Hello everyone,

I have a fairly simple problem. As you can see in the picture, the "opening" above our fireplace is still unfinished. I’m a bit unsure how to cover it—wooden slatted grille, metal mesh, or something else.

Do you have any good ideas? I just need a few suggestions :-D

The chimney sweep will only accept non-combustible materials. Simply buy an adjustable metal grate, done.

A metal grate would be suitable as it is heat-resistant and durable. Alternatively, matching tiles or stones could complement the overall look nicely. Good luck with your project!
