Hello everyone!
For the approval of the wood stove when a controlled residential ventilation system is present, a suitable regulation or shutdown of the ventilation system is necessary to prevent smoke gases from being drawn into the living space. Can anyone advise me on exactly what is required? Any recommendations? Certifications?
Situation:
- Controlled residential ventilation system by Viessmann
- Wood stove (not open combustion) with its own (room-air independent) fresh air supply from a duct in the chimney
During the electrical planning, the electrician was unsure about the requirements and recommended a stove control system from Brunner including installation for €1250. However, I believe there is a misunderstanding. My concern is not to electronically control the wood stove (automatic damper) but simply to implement a shutdown of the controlled residential ventilation (switched outlet), that is, temperature- or pressure-controlled during the operation of the stove while the stove door is briefly opened for refueling and potential negative pressure occurs.
A preliminary meeting with the responsible chimney sweep will take place soon, but I would like to be informed beforehand. The electrician honestly admitted that he is not very familiar with this and would install something else that the chimney sweep might accept. Even if he cannot get it from wholesale, we are welcome to order it, for example, online.

Since the wood stove hasn’t been finalized yet but will likely be from the "DIY store" range for cost reasons, we will almost certainly need a differential pressure monitor. The specific stove will, of course, be chosen in consultation with the chimney sweep—I have already printed out various datasheets and certifications from manufacturers.
The price limit for the stove is €3000, which unfortunately doesn’t get you very far when buying from a stove specialist.
However, even with the differential pressure monitor, this option is still more affordable.

Hello,
Well, you can get quite a bit with 3000 euros (approximately 3200 USD), it’s no longer entry-level from a hardware store. We have a Skantherm Emotion M. We paid just over 3000 € (about 3200 USD) for the DIBt-certified version. In spring, there are often special offers and 10% discounts from stove builders.
Best regards,
Andreas

I went through this two years ago in Baden-Württemberg for a family member with an old existing wood stove with glass doors. One wanted it dismantled, the other classified it as an open fireplace and therefore allowed. Since then, he has also been handling the somewhat more profitable tasks like the energy performance certificate for me.
Best regards

Since the wood-burning stove hasn’t been finally chosen yet, but for cost reasons it will probably be one from a DIY store, we will definitely need a pressure monitor. The final stove selection will, of course, be coordinated with the chimney sweep—I’ve already printed out various datasheets and certifications from manufacturers.

Still, even with the pressure monitor, this option is cheaper for me.Justus Reno R. Justus is the DIY store series from Oranjer, and the certified RLU stove Reno R costs roughly around a thousand. At toom, there are occasionally promotions like a €25 ($28) voucher per €100 ($110) spent and free trailer rental for 5 hours if you spend €250 ($275) or more. They load it onto the trailer with a forklift. The stones around the edge and the top can be unscrewed, so it then only weighs about 100–120 kg (220–265 lbs), making it easy to unload and move by yourself. Otherwise, you can simply filter on sites like Feuerdepot or similar online shops for DIBt-certified or RLU stoves and see what’s available.

GabrieleThe initial commissioning must be done by the local chimney sweep.
