Good evening everyone!
Many years ago, at the request of the electrician, satellite cables and Cat6 cables were run from one house to the next (my sister’s) through the attic. Two holes were simply drilled, but they were never sealed. I have read quite a bit about cable firestopping, but I’m still not much wiser. Can I just use a firestop sealant, like the kind from Zapp-Zimmermann, and run the cables through the middle? I’ve also read something about spacing between the cables. That wouldn’t be possible with such a small hole. I would appreciate any tips. Best regards, Michael

I understand fire protection for cable penetrations as preventing additional oxygen from entering in case the cables start to burn on one side. For this, stuff the hole with the insulation material or mineral wool you mentioned above, and apply firestop mortar in front of it. It is probably a semi-detached house? Building class 2, fire protection requirements low due to low risk. (I would just seal it – done). Note: as always, this is a layperson’s opinion without guarantee of accuracy.
