We are currently in the planning phase for our single-family home in the south of Hamburg.

We are designing a somewhat more complex electrical installation for our house:

* KNX bus system
* DALI bus system for the lighting
* Control of the underfloor heating
* Control of the shading
* ...

The planning for the locations of switches, sockets, motion detectors, etc., as well as the routing of cables and the design of the distribution cabinet, is already quite advanced.

To save costs and out of personal interest, we want to carry out a large portion of the electrical installation ourselves. Due to my degree in electrical engineering, I feel confident handling many aspects on my own.

Since we are building with an architect, we are generally quite flexible, but I am still wondering how to best find a contractor who is open to partial DIY work?

Maybe someone here even has a recommendation for a company in our area?

P.S. Of course, we also sourced the materials through the company.

We are currently in talks with a developer for a semi-detached house and want to have an extensive KNX installation. I plan to handle the programming myself, while the electrical installation will be done by an electrician (but outside the contract with the developer).

For the loan, it is usually possible to count self-performed work as additional equity. How high can or should the programming effort be estimated? We have a total of 16 rooms (including hallways, bathrooms, basement rooms, etc.), all of which are planned to have window contacts, motion detectors, and integration of lighting, roller shutters, and heating control via KNX.

Should the electrician include the programming effort separately in the quote? Are there standard flat rates that can be applied for this?

That doesn’t sound extensive, more like standard for KNX. I think something between 3,000 and 5,000 would be due upon commissioning. Who will handle the planning?
