Hello everyone,

our construction is progressing well, so we can slowly start thinking about some tasks for "later" or "in between." Specifically, we will receive the basement with raw walls (filled precast concrete elements). Presumably from the crane installation, there are metal inserts in some wall parts as shown. These should of course be covered with filler later on. The question is with what? Should we simply fill the holes with filler compound until full, or is it necessary to first fill the hole roughly with a firmer material and then apply a thin layer of filler on top?

Regards

Daniel

These will probably be utility rooms. Therefore, use a ready-mixed filler (3kg (6.6 lbs) bucket from the hardware store). Simply apply the filler, lightly dampen the surface beforehand. Depending on the size of the holes, you may need to apply it twice, then sand smooth -> job done

Of course, a perfectly smooth painted surface is not planned there. What I don’t know is: does regular filler even adhere properly in the recess because of the metal? And can you apply filler up to 2cm (0.8 inches) thick, or will it crumble and fall out later?
