Hello, I couldn’t find anything about this through a Google search. Maybe you can help. Is it possible to use regular classic bamboo garden torches with cooking oils like rapeseed oil as an alternative? Best regards, Steffi33

Unfortunately, no report.. the frying oil was still good, so we didn’t dispose of it. Instead, the torches now contain lamp oil.. On the packaging, it at least says “rapeseed oil based.” But there are still numerous warning labels on it.

Probably to prevent anyone from having the opposite idea of putting lamp oil into the deep fryer and cooking fries in it.

When burned, even the best cooking oil may release “toxic” substances. The warnings are given in relation to the intended use of each oil.
Lamp oil = combustion
Frying oil = consumption
Therefore, the printed warning labels are only partially relevant to your “issue,” which is why I would burn lamp oil and dispose of frying oil properly after use.

Rightly so, this stuff is unfortunately life-threatening for small children... If they taste the nice colorful, scented oil, the poisoning that follows is actually the less serious part. If even a few drops get into the lungs, it destroys lung tissue, and doctors can only provide palliative care. There’s nothing more that can be done...

So please use only the colorless, unscented oil. It is just as dangerous, but not as attractive to small children...

Best regards,
